Hot Legal Topics for 2015 – What’s new and of concern for HR Managers?
To kick off the new year, we will be welcoming, a regular speaker at MHVSHRM on legal topics important to HR practitioners. She will present a comprehensive legal update on important issues for 2015, including: New York and federal wage and hour law developments, the "ban the box" movement (restrictions on asking about criminal convictions), employment law by executive decree, federal agency developments (e.g., at the EEOC and NLRB), expanding paid sick leave requirements, and updates on the implementation of the Affordable Care Act. An engaging speaker and knowledgeable authority, Ms. Lindeman is always a popular presenter. Please join us for this topical presentation.

About the Speaker: Devora L. Lindeman is a partner with the management-side employment law firm of Greenwald Doherty, LLP based in Orangeburg, NY, in Rockland County. With offices in the tri-state area, she represents business and non-profit clients in all aspects of labor and employment law. Devora regularly counsels clients regarding day-to-day employee issues such as addressing internal employee complaints, advising how to fire the poor performing pregnant lady, or providing advice on wage and hour issues. Devora also represents business clients in federal and state courts and agencies, defending them against such claims as discrimination, harassment, failure to accommodate disabilities, wage and hour violations, FMLA violations and much more. She is part of her law firm’s team assisting companies to focus their corporate values, weave them into HR documents and practices, and performance manage against those values aiding companies in firing high performing yet toxic employees.
Devora frequently lectures to employer associations regarding compliance obligations which helps prevent employee problems before they start. Devora received her undergraduate degree from Sarah Lawrence College, and was graduated from the Rutgers School of Law in Newark with highest honors. She clerked for a federal magistrate judge following law school, and has been practicing employment law ever since. She is admitted to practice law in New York and New Jersey.
