One of the most challenging issues to face as a Human Resource executive is when a member of the executive team or a senior staff member behaves badly. As an executive coach, I have witnessed and heard about all kinds of bad behavior from yelling at subordinates to cursing at customers. What amazes me the most is that executives, especially owners of businesses, often get away with bad behavior because of their title/role. The brilliant Steve Jobs comes to mind as I write this article, according to many of his employees he was a caustic boss. Holding executives accountable and creating consequences for bad behavior is key to creating a motivating and productive work environment for employees. In the case of a privately owned organization, the owners or partners might behave badly forever or until they are sued for creating a hostile work environment.

Bosses are supposed to be positive role models for the rest of the organization, not bullies. Nobody wants to work for a bully! During this interactive session, you will learn:

  • The financial impact bad behavior can have on your organization
  • How you can address bad behavior with executive coaching
  • How using a behavioral assessment can redirect bad behavior
  • How to develop consequences and hold executives accountable for improving their behavior
  • What to do if your boss is a bully
