Learning Objectives


1] Participants will learn where OSHA is focusing its resources

2] Participants will be made aware of current occupational fatality statistics and how work-related fatalities can be avoided

3] Participants will learn where to find useful and current occupational safety and health resources

4] Participants will learn how to access and contribute to on-going OSHA regulatory affairs



Mr. McCarthy is the Compliance Assistance Specialist at the US Department of Labor’s Tarrytown OSHA Area Office and serves as President-Elect and Government Liaison to the Hudson River Valley Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers.   He is a certified OSHA trainer for the 10 and 30 hour general industry and construction courses, the OSHA Disaster Site Worker course and is an OSHA Level 1 Process Safety Management Technician. 

Mr. McCarthy’s other occupational safety and health experience includes working as a National Accounts Loss Control Consultant and Account Manager with The Travelers Property Casualty Company and as a Life Safety Consultant at Cornell University Medical Center. 

Prior to accepting his current Compliance Assistance Specialist role, Mr. McCarthy served as an Assistant Area Director in both the Tarrytown and Parsippany OSHA Area Offices. He holds a B.S. in Biology, an MBA in Management, is a volunteer firefighter and Assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 96.
